Fresh iPhone Apps for Jan. 14: You Gotta See This! & UberSocial updates, AcademicGPS

Updates abound among today’s Fresh iPhone Apps — we’ve got improvements for the photo collage app You Gotta See This! and Twitter client Ubersocial, both of which add a few features and a lot of fixes to hone the experience. And then there’s AcademicGPS, an app that utilizes your phone’s GPS technology to help find cheaper college classes in your area. We’ve got info on them all below.

You Gotta See This! update (iPhone) $0.99

Spiffy photo app You Gotta See This! allows users to create big photo collages by snapping multiple fast photos together and linking them, creating a larger image from the smaller overlapping ones. Activating the app, you build images by standing still with your arm and phone out-stretched, moving it in a wide horizontal and vertical arc.

Developer Boinx Software’s new update for You Gotta See This! has tuned up the app quite a bit, adding some bug fixes and improving rendering for the images it creates. It also works better with memory in order to save space, and gives more indicators, like flash, focus and exposure, ensuring better photos and better collages.

UberSocial update (iPhone) Free

Twitter users will dig the wide range of features included in free Twitter app UberSocial, which integrates not only your personal Twitter timelines, but also timelines of specific groups of people like entertainers, athletes and more. The app allows you to share a lot of things easily, as well, by providing a button for instantly tweeting the music you’re listening to on your iPod, and another to make quick TwitPics out of what you see around you.

UberSocial just got updated to upgrade the app’s inline browser, improving the quality of the experience when you click links to read articles you’re seeing on your timeline. There’s also a new feature for researching trends, and several fixes to integrate Facebook and Posterous feeds along with Twitter.

AcademicGPS (iPhone) Free

College students, you can use AcademicGPS to help you find college courses that are compatible with your current institution near your current location. Type in your school and search for a location, and the app figures out which courses and colleges in your area can transfer credits back to wherever you go to school. It’s a good way for finding courses to take during the summer and to save money on your education.

AcademicGPS doesn’t cover every school in the country, but it does have a lot of them, and it’s free to try so it’s worth a shot to find the one you’re looking for. With the rate student loans are going in this country, there’s no reason to turn down anything that might help save money.
