Fresh iPhone Apps for Jan 10: eBay Mobile update, Awesome Files HD, Sketch Agent Pro

The freshest of today’s Fresh Apps is actually an update to eBay Mobile, the auction site’s iPhone app, that adds augmented reality to eBay’s repertoire of cool features like bar code scanning and searching. You’ll want to read about that update to the free app, as well as a couple of others we’ve found for your approval.

eBay Mobile update Free

Most iPhone users already know about the handy functions found in eBay Mobile, the in-your-pocket version of the popular auction site. In addition to searching through auction listings to find items, or keep track of the auctions you’re running for other people to bid in, its last update, eBay added the ability to scan bar codes of physical items and find them on the site.

A new update to eBay adds an even cooler function: augmented reality. You can now use the iPhone 4’s front-facing camera to try on sunglasses you’d like to buy on eBay. On the iPhone’s screen, you’ll see your face, with the sunglasses overlaid on it, as if you were looking in a mirror. It’s an interesting application to make your mobile shopping a little easier.

Awesome Files HD (iPad) $0.99

The developers of Awesome Files refer to the interface of their app as “awesome,” and at the very least, it’s simple and easy to use. Awesome Files is a file viewer, allowing you to access documents, web pages, images and other files, as well as move them around and organize them.

Beyond just moving files around and looking at them, you can do a lot of cool things within Awesome Files. You can save web pages and email documents, zip and unzip files, and even make create .txt files. And once you’ve got your files the way you want them, you can use your iPad’s USB or Wi-Fi connection to send them back to your computer.

Sketch Agent Pro (iPhone, iPad) $1.99

There are a whole lot of photo-altering apps out there, and Sketch Agent is another one. However, it does create some cool-looking images out of the photos you take with your iPhone’s camera. With a few taps on your phone’s touchscreen, you can make your photo look like someone drew it as a sketch.

The app includes several different adjustable features to create your sketch. You’ll alter brush types and pencil types, and you can change the hue and saturation of colors as well. Once you’ve finished with changing your photo into a sketch, you can save and share it via Facebook, Twitter and email.
