Fresh iPhone Apps for December 28: Reeder for iPad, Bugs!, CBS This Morning

We’re still in the middle of a holiday drought as far as new iPhone apps are concerned, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great new offerings to be found. Check out the list below for some great, useful apps that will help you grab interesting photos, capture great news video, and way to read articles from your favorite sources.

Reeder for iPad update $4.99

Reeder brings the simplicity and user-friendliness of Google Reader to your iPad in an easy to navigate app that lets you page through items in a grid system rather than a list. It’s a highly useable way to access the news feeds and articles you read regularly with your iPad, but in a more visual way.

The recent update to Reeder adds the ability to read articles without pulling open the iPad’s browser to access them. It’s a lot like apps like Instapaper and Read It Later, which allow you to see just text versions of articles — making the whole experience cleaner and faster.

Bugs! Incredible Macro Photography by Thomas Shahan $0.99

Some amazing photography is available in Bugs!, which puts you up close and personal with 180 macro photographs of insects. There are quite a few amazing shots to be found in this app, and if you like bugs (and maybe if you don’t), it’s worth checking out.

Beyond perusing all the different available photographs, the app allows you to share your favorite photos on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and you can also set photos as the background on your iPhone or iPad. Browsing photos is also a more immersive experience because Bugs! includes ambient forest sounds played along with your images.

CBS Sunday Morning (iPhone) Free

The official app of CBS’ popular news show is free and features articles from the show that don’t show up on other news shows or apps. It brings all the good things about the show to your iPhone, allowing you full access anytime you want.

You’ll get videos and articles from the show and the staff there, as well as the ability to see segments from the show featuring CBS Sunday Morning’s commentators and correspondents. It’s also filled with image galleries and the tranquil videos that make CBS Sunday Morning such a great show.
