The app is filled with effects and controls to give you the sense that you’re not just playing one piece of a song over the top of another. Remiix allows you to pull up sounds from any of the several songs it offers and mix them with other sounds, full track, or portions of songs in order to transform them into something new. The app also includes information about Richie Hawtin, the man behind DJ alter-ego Plastikman.

Hotel Tonight (iPhone) Free

This free travel app only works in three cities for the moment — San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles — but for those three cities, it helps find a hotel and book lodging instantly, which is perfect when you need a place to stay quickly and cheaply.

The app offers same-day, mobile-only bookings that you can send through to hotels until 2 a.m. Hotel Tonight members also enjoy exclusive price discounts, and early adopters of the app today will grab $10 off their first booking. By booking at the last minute, Hotel Tonight works to provide customers with really low rates to help hotels fill rooms they were unable to sell.
