Fresh iPhone Apps for Apr. 1: Vimeo, Freshlist, Dynamic Light

Impressed by iMovie? Then you might want to give Vimeo’s moviemaking app a workout; it’s comparable in a lot of ways to iMovie, allowing users to shoot and edit video with the app, then upload the finished product to Vimeo’s online servers. It’s free, so it’s definitely worth a look, as are the other Fresh Apps on today’s list: HDR photo manipulation app Dynamic Light and daily to-do list maker Freshlist.

Vimeo (iPhone, iPad 2) Free

Internet video service Vimeo finally has an iOS app, allowing users to create and post their videos on the web in a blogging/YouTube-like style. The app contains everything you need to shoot video, edit it and share it on Facebook and Twitter. You’ll get a lot of the same editing capabilities as you might see in something like iMovie, but you get it with Vimeo for free.

You can use Vimeo’s various editing capabilities within the app to cut videos together to make a larger project, or you can just go with raw video files, uploading both types to Vimeo’s servers so you can access them from the web as as well as your iOS device. You can also browse through other people’s videos from within Vimeo.

Freshlist (iPhone, iPad) Free (with upgrades of $0.99 or $1.99)

Some people like to have a new to-do list every day. Freshlist accommodates those people — it doesn’t store the itinerary items you plug into it for more than a day at a time, allowing users the chance to eliminate items they can’t get to, and start each day with a clean slate, so to speak.

Freshlist is designed to keep you from having to spend excessive amounts of time actually managing your to-do list. You can get the app free with ad-support, or pay $0.99 or $1.99 for “pro” versions. If you happen to recommend a friend, Freshlist is a running a sale in which you’ll get half-off on the $1.99 pro version.

Dynamic Light (iPhone, iPad 2) $0.99

There are a lot of photography apps in the App Store that apply different filters and effects to photos, and a few of them, like Hipstamatic and Instagram, are pretty popular. Dynamic Light is one such photography app, designed specifically to deal with images off the iPhone 4 and iPad 2. The app allows you to tweak these photos and create effects by changing the lighting within the photo using high-dynamic-range (HDR) filters.

Dynamic Light’s developers, Mediachance, sound really proud of their app and the processing power of the iPhone — they claim the app can alter photos and process the data required to apply effects in about the same time it would take a desktop computer to do the same job, which is impressive. The app packs several different photo effects, as well as the ability to adjust them with a few choices and sliders found within, resulting in some stark and powerful images.
