Five ghoulish apps to get you in the mood for Halloween

You can keep Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and any other of your favorite holidays. All I need is Halloween. Even though we’re still two weeks away from the best party night of the year, I’ve had my costume picked out for months and I’ve looking out for the best Halloween apps, too. If you’re similarly inclined, here are some of the more useful apps to help you have the best Halloween yet.

Halloween+ ($0.99)

Halloween+ is like a great big smorgasbord of good Halloween apps. In Halloween+ you can get ringtones, enjoy a Halloween soundboard, get costume ideas, and even pick up some new background images for your iPhone. About the only thing Halloween+ doesn’t do is pick out your costume for you.

HallowE’en (Free)

Looking to creep your friends out at a party? Hide your iPhone in a room and hit some of the sound buttons on the HallowE’en app. There are plenty at your disposal, including footsteps, screams, and mumbling noises. You can even send the creepy tones to your computer so you sync them as ringtones later.

Halloween Costumes Fashion Fun – Adults (Free)

Sometimes coming up with a costume idea as an adult can be one of the most stressful things about Halloween. Halloween Costumes Fashion Fun – Adults should take some of that stress away. The app lists numerous costumes separated by sex, and what’s better, the costumes can be ordered right from the app. For an adult on-the-go, it’s hard to top that.

Halloween Costumes Fashion Fun – Kids (Free)

And if you’re looking for something for the kids, Halloween Costumes Fashion Fun – Kids should do the trick. Like the adult costume app, costumes are separated by sex and can be ordered directly from within the app. As a bonus, because there’s an adult version of the app, you don’t have to worry about accidentally ordering a too risqué costume for your kids.

Ace FreakyFace Halloween Mask & Costume Photo Booth (Free)

Photo editing apps may not be as quite in vogue as they were a year or two ago, but Ace FreakyFace Halloween Mask & Costume Photo Booth should kindle a bit of the old spark, especially for fans of Halloween who want to give their photos a bit of the spirit. This app even does most of the work for you, automatically overlaying weird decals using your camera’s live feed. From there you can save the picture on your own camera roll.
