Fight crime and save babies with the Hero HD

In the Hero HD (99 cents), you are a superhero who must save the world’s major cities from the evil Dr. Hubbub. You’re constantly flying through the air, saving falling babies, high-fiving your fans, and defeating criminals. While the graphics look great and the gameplay is fun, the controls take a bit of getting used to.

The objective of the game is to fly your superhero around the city to stop as many crimes as possible. You’re always flying, and controlling your flight is a bit of a chore at first. There are three methods of control: virtual thumb stick, touch and tilt. The virtual thumb stick seems to be the easiest, while the tilt controls are the most difficult. The on-screen touch controls get annoying, as your finger and hand block huge portions of the screen while you try to fly around. Even though the thumb stick is the easiest, it still takes some getting used to. It’s very difficult to precisely fly to a location. You’ll find yourself circling your objective many times before you actually hit it. However, after some practice, it becomes a natural way to control the game.

While you fly around, crimes will start, and you’ll be notified and guided to their location. For example, when a robbery is committed, you’ll be notified with an on-screen message and an arrow that points to the robber. You’ll need to fly into the robber to knock him out and stop the robbery. You can also fight fires, rescue falling babies, and kill zombies. However, you must also keep your fame meter full by staying clear of danger. If you get shot or damage property, your fame will diminish, and eventually you’ll lose the game. You also have special powers, such as a freeze attack. To replenish your special powers, you need to fly around and high-five the fans who are waving from windows.

The game has a decent amount of content to keep the excitement going for a while. The graphics and sound are top-notch, and the gameplay is exciting and fun. I highly recommend the purchase.
