Fans of fashion website Fashism.com, will be delighted to know that the service has gone mobile with its new free app for iPhone and iPod Touch. For those unfamiliar with the site, Fashism users upload photos of clothing, makeup or hairstyles for the judgment of others—think “Hot or Not” for blazers and blouses.  Although some commentators can be catty, the purpose of Fashism isn’t to create a haven for mean girls; it’s to give users a second set of opining eyes when it comes to sartorial selections.

Using Fashism Mobile requires an account, but this can be created quickly in-app. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see a list of the most recently submitted queries. Tap each image to see a larger version, as well as any comments other users have left. You’ll also then be able to vote if you like it or hate it, rotate the image or leave a comment of your own.

Within the app, users are able to submit photos directly to the main site through the “Upload Look” function. Although the pair of cameras available on iPhone 4 make it easy to snap and send a photo (the section allows you to take a photo in-app or select from your camera roll), I opted to pull an image from Safari for use in my test submission, which posted instantly to Fashism.com and appeared in-app. It was only a matter of seconds before Fashism’s community started weighing in on whether the purse I’ve been coveting was cute or not (82 percent think yes), but it took relaunching the app to see the updated percentage rating available on the main site. Comments on my post appeared without issue, but there’s nothing in the app to indicate that any replies had been made.

The load time of posts on Fashism Mobile, as well as the simplistic user interface (which omits several sections of the regular website) leaves something to be desired, but Fashism’s devoted user base will certainly make sure you don’t commit a fashion faux pas.
