Any app that lets you check sports scores and tweak a fantasy roster is one I’m interested in. CBS Sports Mobile does just that and it’s a tool I recommend for sports geeks.

Yet it has a key drawback that keeps this app a yard short of a touchdown.

The CBS Sports Mobile app provides scores for all pro and college sports, with play-by-play updates and breaking news. You can create alerts for your favorite teams. The meat of the app lies in the full scoreboard located below the link to news stories. Touch the score of any game you want more information on and the app takes you to the box score and a play by play.

Unfortunately, information is slow to load, even over Wi-Fi, so if you’re an impatient sports fan, this can be aggravating.

The fantasy features set CBS Sports Mobile apart from other scoring apps. Fantasy baseball players just tap the fantasy button to access their team.

This lets you set your line-up, get the scores from your games and update your team on the go. If you use CBS Sports to manage your fantasy league, this is major plus. A version for fantasy football players is expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season, according to CBS.

The CBS Sports Mobile app is a great way to get sports news and manage fantasy baseball but the slow load times might annoy some players in this era of need-to-know-now fantasy play.
