Every shopping enthusiast has fantasized about owning his or her own store, and with the Fashion Story iPhone app you can dabble in the world of retail.

The game allows players to design and stock their own boutique, down to the tiniest details. First, you need to create an avatar of yourself, the store owner. You’ll also be prompted to select a name for the shop.

Then, it’s time to build your inventory. There are skinny pants, studded coats, silk blouses and pointy-toed pumps to chose from. Some orders take just a few minutes to arrive, while others take several hours. Push notifications will alert you when a products is ready to be placed on the floor. As the merchandise grows, you’ll also need to purchase and position additional display racks and tables.

Shoppers mix and mingle while browsing through the clothes. They occasionally disappear into the dressing room, emerge and make a purchase at the cash register. With each sale, you earn additional currency to invest back into the store.

The Fashion Story app also includes a camera feature so you can snap a photo of a specific store layout, and compare and contrast it with others to get the best results.

Players are not limited to visiting their own stores. The app also allows you to browse through other users’ stores and “like” the store layout and the products.

Do note that some actions require the expenditure of “gems,” a form of currency in the game. Once you run low on “gems,” you have to pay real money to get more.
