Download Discounts for October 22: TowerMadness, Bit.Trip Beat HD, iSlash, and more.

In today’s Download Discounts, check out a great tower defense game, an iPad title that fuses Pong with interactive beats, a free puzzle game, and an app for the weekend gardening enthusiast.

TowerMadness (iPhone) Free (was $2.99)

Tower defense games have players setting up stationary guns to divert enemies from a place you have to protect. In TowerMadness, aliens are landing at the far end of a field, and they’re trying to reach the sheep on your side. You use your towers to funnel the aliens around the field, blasting away at them and trying to kill them before they abduct your sheep. It’s simple, yet requires a lot of strategy and planning. Snag this game while it’s free, because it’s definitely addictive.

Bit.Trip Beat HD (iPad) $2.99 (was $4.99)

Describing this game as “fusing Pong with interactive beats” is about as close as one can get to explaining what it is. Part rhythm game, part exercise in hand-eye coordination, Bit.Trip Beat is a flashy and interesting arcade experience. It uses retro 8-bit style graphics to create a really interesting and artistic look that flows well with its reliance on music. Pick this one up if you’re looking for a new kind of game experience as Bit.Trip isn’t like anything else you’ve played.

iSlash (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)

This puzzle game is free just for this weekend. It requires you to use your finger to slice up various shapes in order to reduce them to a certain size and complete the stage. The game gets complicated, however, when you add in ninja stars. They bounce around the shapes as you’re cutting them, and you have to wait for the stars to bounce clear of a section before you cut it loose. It comes down to quick thinking, quick actions and quick reflexes.

Garden & Landscape Design (iPad) $0.99 (was $1.99)

Here’s an app for iPad owners who find themselves wandering around their backyards, trying to figure out how to improve them. Garden & Landscape Design is filled with ideas and inspiration to help its users with DIY outdoor beautification. Chief among the app’s cool features are the many photos it employs to show off various landscaping possibilities, which are regularly updated. The app works hard to create a relaxing ambiance, even working music into the process to keep up the mellow atmosphere.
