Mobile game makers Capcom and Sega are running a sale on several of their iPhone and iPad games in the wake of the Japan earthquake. Capcom’s Street Fighter IV and Sega’s Sonic franchise all have reduced prices for the next week, and 100 percent of the proceeds from all of them is going to humanitarian aid for the earthquake. If you’re looking for some new games, grab a few and do some good at the same time.

Street Fighter IV (iPhone, iPad) $0.99 (was $9.99)

Take to the streets and pummel your enemies into submission in Capcom’s spectacular port of its long-running fighting game franchise. Street Fighter includes 14 characters from the franchise, fighting through 11 different stages and includes four difficulty modes.

Street Fighter gives you a tournament mode, in which you’ll fighting through all the opponents you can to take the mantel of champion. There’s also a Dojo mode that will teach you the ropes, and you can play against a friend with Bluetooth connectivity. This is a great price for an awesome game — just the graphics are worth the price of entry, let alone the gameplay. Take advantage and grab Street Fighter IV if you haven’t already.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1 (iPhone, iPad) $3.99 (was $6.99)

The classic formula of Sonic the Hedgehog is back in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, an iOS-made, high-end game that recreates fast-paced side-scrolling brand of Sonic made popular back in the 1990s. The game includes 17 stages over four different zones, along with special stages and two levels you can’t get on any other platform.

Sonic makes use of lots of the iPhone’s particular hardware. You can play the game with virtual buttons to get an experience a lot like the old-school Sonic games, or use the iPhone’s accelerometer in the special levels to change up the way Sonic works. You’ll also get great new graphics to go with the package, mixing the old and the new Sonic schools.

You can tear through Sonic 1’s seven zones in this port with the jumping, speeding gameplay that made Sonic a household name. You can also grab Sonic 2 at a discount as well, and play along with Sonic and Tails, the Blue Blur’s sidekick. Get both at a discount for the rest of the week.
