Download Discounts for Feb. 7: Madden NFL 11, NFL 2011, Backbreaker Football

You watched the game — now get a fix playing in the big leagues with the games found on today’s Download Discounts. We’ve got three heavily discounted football games for you to enjoy, including Electronic Arts’ video gaming mainstay, Madden NFL 11. Get the details, and the download links, below.

Madden NFL 11 by EA Sports (iPhone, iPad) $0.99 (was $4.99)

The flagship console gaming football franchise from Electronic Arts is available in an iOS version, and it’s quite deep and involved that fans of both mobile gaming and football will want to grab at a discount. Usually running at $4.99, if you enjoy Madden on your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you’re going to want to get to iTunes immediately.

There’s a whole lot to do in Madden: you’ll play football games in which you’ll call plays and control the defense and offense, but there’s more than that — you can manage your team through a complete season and battle through the playoffs and championship, as well. You can even simulate your own Super Bowl within the game.

NFL 2011 (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

NFL 2011 is Gameloft’s take on Madden NFL 11, and while the latter game is pretty phenomenal, it doesn’t hurt to get a different take at just a dollar a pop — plus NFL 2011 HD, the iPad version of the game, is also available at one-fifth the usual price. Gameloft’s game includes stats on more than 2,000 NFL players and all 32 teams for you to play with and manage through the season.

You’ll be able to choose from more than 200 different plays, and you can even edit and save your own plays to use in games. There’s an assistant to give you tips on choosing plays, plus tilt controls to give you more options when you’re dodging the defense while carrying the ball. You can use the app to keep tabs on the real world of football, too, with the official NFL RSS feed.

Backbreaker Football (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)

While NFL 2011 and Madden NFL 11 take a larger look at football — giving you the opportunity to control everything in the game — Backbreaker takes a smaller, arcade approach by letting you just run for touchdowns. You’ll control a single, customizable player as he runs for the end zone, dodging incoming defenders with multiple different moves.

Backbreaker brings a couple of game modes for you to mess with: a challenge mode, in which you can earn “Golden Helmets” to track your progress, and an endurance mode, in which you’ll face 70 waves of defenders. You’ll also have online leaderboards, to see how you match up with other players, and access to content you can unlock as you defeat challenges.
