Hunt monsters and work your way through a secret 8-bit castle with a couple of games featured on today’s Download Discounts list. Both games are free for a limited time, as is World Meeting Planner, an app that takes all the headache out of scheduling web meetings with people in multiple timezones. Read on below for all the info on all three, then hit the links and download today’s freebies.

AR Monster (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)

Turn your iPhone into an augmented reality, old-school role-playing game with AR Monster, which uses the device’s camera to find “monsters” in the world around you and fight them with various weapons. It turns the world around you into your own personal dungeon, complete with treasure chests with equipment you can find and equip, and monsters to battle using different strategic abilities.

Your primary goal in the game is to defeat monsters and add them to your Book of Sealing. There are more than 600 monsters to take on and document, and you’ll have to defeat lesser monsters to increase your skills and abilities in order to beat the tougher ones. Best of all, you’ll have to utilize your iPhone’s GPS in order to find all the monsters, since they won’t all appear in the same places.

Alice in the Secret Castle (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)

If you like your games super-tough, old-school and 8-bit in nature, you’ll want to check out Alice in the Secret Castle — a difficult game if ever there was one. As Alice, you find a magic wand and have to work through the “secret castle,” which consists of 64 puzzle rooms. Each room contains enemies to avoid, diamonds to gather for points and a key to open the room’s door and exit.

The trick to solving Alice’s plight in the castle is the wand — pushing the only button available to you will make (some of) the castle’s walls vanish, causing Alice to fall through them. You can use the wand to reach areas you couldn’t otherwise get to, or avoid enemies who would kill you. Secret Castle is by no means easy, but gamers who like the old style will find a lot to do in this app.

World Meeting Planner (iPhone) Free (was $1.99)

World Meeting Planner is designed to help businesspeople with international clients to schedule meetings in which people in several different time zones can take part. The app lets you input the time and place where you want the meeting to be based, and then does the calculations for other timezones allowing you to send email invites to everyone who will be involved. It simplifies the scheduling process and does all the work for you.

The app keeps track of Daylight Savings Time and frequently used locations to make using the app even easier and faster. You can also preview locations on a map and pick them from there, rather than from the list view.
