Flight Control fans, you might want to check out Dogfight!, a game that uses Flight Control’s basic formula of drawing a path from a plane to guide it around the level. As you line up your plane with enemy fighters, it will automatically fire on them. It’s free today, as are the puzzle game Jump ‘in Jack Ball and information-saving app Tap Forms Database, with all kinds of functionality that can help you simplify your form-filling endeavors.

Dogfight! (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $2.99)

Free for a limited time is Dogfight!, a game that’s a lot like the popular game Flight Control. You control a fighter plane by dragging your finger from the plane around the screen, giving it a flight path to follow. As your fighter moves around the sky, it’ll automatically fire at enemy planes in font of it, so you’ll need to plan your paths in order to shoot down other planes and keep your score going.

In order to stay competitive, you’ll need to snag power-ups that appear on the screen while dodging the fire of enemy planes. Dogfight! includes leaderboards divided by several locales, from the entire globe down to daily scores, and you can also challenge your friends using Facebook.

Jump’ in Jack Ball! (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)

Three colored balls sit on the ground at the start of each level in Jack Ball, with three corresponding colored cups floating in the air in various places around the screen. Each stage is cleared by flinging the balls into the cup of the same color; you can determine the angle of the ball and the power behind it by dragging your finger from each ball in the direction of the cup. How far you draw the line from the ball determines how far it’ll fly, so the challenge becomes determining the right angle and arc that will result from the direction and power you put behind each toss.

Jack Ball tracks how many throws you use to complete each stage — the fewer throws you use, the higher your score. Beat the level with the fewest throws necessary and you’ll pull down a gold medal in it; more throws, and you’ll earn lower medals. Levels become more complex as time goes on as Jack Ball puts obstacles in your way and forces you to use the wrong colored cups, which eject mismatched balls, to reach specific areas. The longer you play, the more challenging the levels become.
