Carnivores, an FPS that’s all about hunting dinosaurs, along with an app that makes Foursquare check-ins even easier are two hot apps on sale today. Read about them below in today’s Download Discounts.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)

A first-person shooter that is more about waiting and strategy than twitch controls, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is about — you guessed it — hunting prehistoric creatures. You earn and unlock various weapons and the right to hunt different dinosaurs, and as you progress you’ll get to take your hunting to various dinosaur-filled islands.

Carnivores includes two game modes for you to tackle in its 3D world; one is a standard hunting mode, in which the dinosaurs go about their business or run from you as you try to take them down, and a survival mode in which the dinosaurs slowly become more bold and attempt to eat you. Your progress is tracked in an in-game trophy room, and also on the game’s leaderboards.

Checkmate for Foursquare (iPhone) Free (was $0.99)

With Checkmate running in the background on your iPhone, you can check-in to venues with Foursquare automatically, without having to pull out your phone, open the app and check-in manually. You can automatically share your check-ins on Twitter and Facebook, too, if you want.

Checkmate allows you to specify where to run automatic check-ins by venue, so it won’t compromise your security, and you can share your check-ins just with friends or go “off the grid” if you’d rather people not know your whereabouts.
