Download Discounts for December 28: Star Wars: Falcon Gunner, VR+ Voice, Smart Scanner

Holiday sales are in full swing in lots of stores now that Christmas is over. So don’t forget to capitalize on low prices in the App Store for only a few more days before the start of the New Year. Today we have a few choice selections for you to add to your download queue while the price is right. Check them out below.

Star Wars: Falcon Gunner (iPhone) $0.99 (was $4.99)

Climb into the gunner seat of the Millennium Falcon and relive battles from the films in this app. There are several stages that consist of waves of TIE fighters attacking the ship while you rotate around, blasting away at them. It’s simple, but a lot of fun to use the iPhone’s gyroscope to help take out enemy ships before they destroy you.

Falcon Gunner’s best feature is its augmented reality support, so instead of taking on the Empire’s TIEs in the darkness of space, you can use your iPhone’s camera to provide the world around you as background to your TIE blasting mayhem.

VR+ Voice (iPhone) $0.99 (was $1.99)

Snag this voice recording app for half the price today — it’s designed to allow you to save audio and voice recordings as MP3s and share them with others through lots of different means, including Facebook and Twitter.

VR+ has a lot of cool features, including one-touch recording and pausing, playback, voice detection, file size and audio quality choices, and unlimited recording length. And you can organize your recordings by category with easy-to-skim icons to help keep everything straight.

Smart Scanner (iPhone) $0.99 (was $1.99)

With Smart Scanner, you can skip typing information from a note into your iPhone to make a call or get directions to a location, because the app turns the device’s camera into a scanner that recognizes certain things and makes them instantly accessible. Snap a shot of a phone number you just wrote down, for example, and when you look at the photo, you’ll be able to tap the number and instantly use it to make a call.

The app also allows you to scan large blocks of text so you can copy and paste them into documents or e-mails from the app, without having to retype them. Smart Scanner isn’t a full-blown document scanner, but it can make life a little easier when turning printed text into info you need on your iPhone.
