Download Discounts for Apr. 29: Orbion, Physics Gamebox, Bleep Word Guessing Game

It’s Friday — don’t you think you deserve a few free games after a long week? We do, which is why we’ve got four free games in our usual three-app Download Discounts list today. The double-up is due to Physics Gamebox, an app that actually contains two games for the price of free. There’s also Orbion, a game that’s all about quick reflexes, and Bleep Word Guessing Game, a riff on Taboo that’s fun for the whole family. Check them out below.

Orbion (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)

Orbion tests your reflexes in a really simple way — touch controls let you rotate a colored ring that surrounds a launcher. The launcher rotates around in circles, firing colored balls, and it’s your job to move the ring so the ball hits the portion of the ring that matches its color. The quicker you are, the higher your score.

Some balls give you power-ups to make the going a little easier through Orbion’s two game modes: the standard stage mode, in which you’ll play through six levels of increasing difficulty, and a time trial mode that lets you see how quickly you can rack up a certain score.

Physics Gamebox (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)

What’s better than a free game? Two free games! That’s what’s on offer in Physics Gearbox, which is free for a limited time and includes a couple of titles in which you’ll have to manipulate physics to be successful. Up first is Ragdoll Cannon, a game in which you’ll have to carefully fire stick people from a cannon to hit a target, dodging obstructions in the way. The fewer shots you take, the higher your score is for each of the game’s levels.

The second title in Physics Gamebox is Roly Poly Cannon, an game akin to Angry Birds or Fragger, in which you fire bombs from a cannon to take out enemies scattered throughout the level. Both games use a similar cannon-firing mechanic that requires you to gauge the power you need for each shot and the angle at which you fire it.

Bleep Word Guessing Game (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)

If you’ve played the party game Taboo before, you’ll get Bleep Word Guessing Game instantly. It’s a party game in which a group of people is split into two teams, and each team takes turns trying to guess a secret word given to them on your iOS device’s screen. The kicker is, each player whose turn it is to lead the guessing can’t use any of the “taboo” words on the screen to describe the mystery word — doing so or passing results in a lost point.

Bleep is great for playing for a few minutes with a group of people to kill time, or in a full-on party atmosphere. It contains more than 2,000 words with more added in updates, and is designed so no words get repeated during a game. You’ll need friends in order to play Bleep, but with its three different game modes and built-in timer, it should be a good time whenever you have a get-together.
