Don’t bother picking up the StyleLife iPhone app

If you’ve heard of Neil Strauss, it’s probably because of his best-selling book, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists,” in which he learns how to become one of the world’s best pickup artists. Capitalizing on his apparent seduction skills, Strauss, who goes by the pseudonym Style, formed StyleLife Academy, which he calls “the world’s first online academy for attraction.” Now, Strauss is bringing the art of seduction to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad through the new app StyleLife ($1.99).

StyleLife features a selection of openers, “pebbles” and attraction lines that users can swipe through. However, they are in random order and you can’t swipe back to see the previous example—something completely new will be generated. There’s also an option to favorite lines, but there didn’t seem to be a way to easily access these (flipping to landscape mode brought up a screen that said “no favourites added”, even though I had marked some). Video clips are available and stream quickly, but there isn’t a vast selection. It seems that StyleLife will best serve those who already have some understanding of “the game” (and it’s language), as there isn’t any instruction on how to adequately use the content to pick up women.

Although the developer claims that updates to the app are planned, the fact that its website, www.stylelifeapp.com, currently displays as “account suspended,” doesn’t exactly inspire faith. Whatever your opinion on Neil Strauss’s included content, the poorly designed UI and buggy-ness make this app one to wait on at its current price.
