Discover Mobile iPhone app gives you window into account

Have you ever wondered what your credit card balance was but you weren’t near a computer to check it out? If you have an account with Discover, then quickly pick up the free Discover Mobile app.

Discover Mobile is a mirror to the online Discover card Web page. If you’ve set up an online account with Discover, everything you see there will display on the app.

If you could say anything bad about an app that allows you to monitor your credit card on the go, it might be that Discover Mobile is basically a no-frills re-creation. The first screen you see after logging in packs all of the information you might want immediately upon logging into a credit card account, including your balance, last payment made, next payment due, and available credit.

There are also links so you can see your previous transactions, check your reward points, and make a payment. The payment screen even has all of the details of the Web site, meaning that if you have a bank account linked to easily make payments on the site, that information is loaded onto the app, allowing you to make a payment from your iPhone whenever you want.

Unfortunately, the login for both Discover Mobile and the Discover Web site are the same, meaning that unless you check to have the app remember you, it’ll take a little bit of finger tapping to type in your login and password every time you log in. About the only way to improve on this solid app would be if there was a way to enter in a single code to open the app to an account, like a four-digit ATM code, but linked specifically to your iPhone.

Otherwise, there isn’t any reason for Discover cardholders not to go out and grab the Discover Mobile app.
