Create your dream world with City Story app

In City Story, the object of the game is to build residences and businesses in order to develop a city that makes money and keeps your citizens happy. There is something about this genre that is very appealing. These games are growing in popularity every day. However, this game is not one of the top titles.

My major problem with this one is the lack of animation. Nothing moves, and the world just seems static. There are no sound effects to offer some reality to the gameplay either. It’s a little disappointing.

If you can get past the static UI, the game does offer some creative concepts. There are a few main categories for building. You can build residences, businesses and decorative elements such as fountains and parks. You need coins to build these structures, and you start off with a set number of them. Factories will earn you coins, but only after a certain amount of time. For example, you can produce a specific toy at a factory, but only sell them and earn coins after a few hours of real time pass. You can choose to receive push notifications when your products are ready to sell. This concept is fun for a while, but starts to get frustrating when you run out of money and have to wait a long time to get more. These types of games are also a bit of a scam, as you also have the option to spend your real money to purchase more coins. So, if the game sucks you in, it might be difficult to resist spending more and more of your hard-earned cash on virtual trees.

City Story is free, but really isn’t worth the time. We Rule is a much better game with the same type of features, even the social aspects. We Rule is also much more alive, offering sound effects, characters and animations that really immerse you in the gameplay. City Story has none of that and I would pass on it.
