If you’ve ever needed to figure out how many fluid ounces are in a liter, how many megabytes are in a gigabyte or convert U.S. dollars to Euros, then the Converter (unit conversions) app is a good deal.

With nine categories in all, Converter (unit conversions) is well worth the 99-cent price tag, especially if you’re a traveler alternating currencies. Also included is a temperature converter, handy if you can’t figure out what 32 degrees Celsius means (89.6 degrees Fahrenheit).

Other conversion apps are on the market for 99 cents. But Convertbot, for example, lacks the straightforward user experience present in Converter. While Convertbot is cuter with its personified design and picture icons, Converter adorns large numerals and clearly labeled buttons.

For my money, I’ll pay a buck to go from pounds to kilograms with the ease of a few finger flicks.

The next time you want to know how many quarts are in a pint, you won’t have to remember your fourth grade math class. Just tap your iPhone or iPod Touch and have the answer in a jiffy (um, a fraction of a millisecond).
