Fans of finding directions the old-fashioned way will love the Compass Go iPhone app.

This navigation app provides the same options of a traditional compass, with the added bonus of having your speed, the position of the sun and your target destination tracked right on your iPhone screen.

Compass Go includes a geocache tool, allowing users to automatically set their location. In the event the GPS is not properly working, the device allows you to enter your location manually. The sun is a good direction indicator in the event that this GPS-based navigation app fails.

Another great feature of Compass Go is allowing users to e-mail their locations to others. This is helpful in case of  an emergency, informing parents of the location of their children, for example.

Users of Compass Go have the option of viewing their location on a map. For frequent hikers and outdoor types, this navigation app enables users to leave the old paper maps at home.

Compass Go claims to be as great as the old-fashioned compass. It has a magnetic declination indicator, comparable to a standard compass.

Unfortunately, Compass Go is not compatible with the iPod Touch. Only iPhone users can download this navigation app.
