Election Day (which is on Nov. 2 this year) is approaching quickly, and campaigns across the country have kicked into high gear. For detailed election coverage, download the free CNN Elections Center iPhone app, and you can be sure you won’t miss a minute of the action.

Start by entering your current location. The app will then provide critical information, including your polling location and hot local races.

The app also includes a great news aggregator, so if you are looking for thorough coverage of various races, this will serve you well. There is also plenty of written content and video clips from CNN’s extensive television coverage of the campaign season.

Among the app’s cooler features is a breakdown of the political makeup of the Senate, House and gubernatorial seats. Utilizing a nifty graphic, the app depicts how many seats which are currently controlled by each of the parties are in play, as well as how many seats would have to change hands for Republican or Democratic control.

And if you don’t have time to check the app regularly, you can signs up for alerts so you don’t miss anything juicy.
