Bug Heroes Quest offers a war-zone filled with RPG action

In general, I’m not a fan of talking animals, but that’s usually because they’re always so goofy. What if somebody wrote talking-animal characters that were totally dramatic and constantly serious? Enter Bug Heroes Quest, an action role-playing game by Foursaken Media.

Bug Heroes Quest is the story of a war between arachnids and insects in a domestic space. This is the Saving Private Ryan of games about bugs. OK, so if you played Bug Heroes you knew this already, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome.

And I am so, so happy that this game exists, because it’s just hilarious when bugs fight a real war. The first time a fly begged that I, the bad-ass spider warrior, not take his life because what will become of his family, I was completely taken with the beautiful novelty of the game.

Beyond that amazing idea is what amounts to a pretty basic action adventure RPG in the vein of the original Bug Heroes. You roam around the room killing other bugs with your swords while trying not to get shot. The controls are perfect for this kind of game, allowing you to swing your sword in any direction, no matter which way you’re looking.

As I said, this is an RPG. As you kill bugs, you collect XP, and when you level up, you can improve your stats, like your health and how much damage you deal. It’s a solid RPG framework.

Is this a game for you? Heck yeah it is! It’s bugs fighting a war. If that doesn’t win you over, I don’t know what you’re doing playing games.
