Brew Town – Idle Tapper For Tap Enthusiasts

Brew Town is the idle tapper combined with a beer sim to make every wannabe craft brewer weep with joy.

Brew Town is a game specifically designed to intrigue and entices those that have beer-making aspirations. An odd combination of a sim and an idler, Brew Town is all about managing every step of the beer making process, from picking the hops at your conveniently located farm, to bottling and designing your finished product.

The colourful and ever so slightly insipid tutorial talks you through the first steps of how to make a beer, how to upgrade your individual buildings to make things more efficient and how to ensure you get the most bang for your buck when selling it to the masses.

After that, you’re completely on your own. It’s honestly a little frightening.

After that, you’re completely on your own. It’s honestly a little frightening.

The game is simple and easy to understand, but that immediate moment after finishing the tutorial is one filled with slight confusion and a bit of panic – what do you do? How do you get to make a beer properly?

Luckily, the process to make and sell a beer is linear and the game doesn’t just forget about you, as you feared it might. Instead, it offers helpful tips to get you going when stuck, including the interesting aspect of designing your own labels.

This artistic section is most certainly the unique selling point of Brew Town. The ability to paint and design your cover is reminiscent of Passportout: Starving Artist. It’s intuitive and easy to design your own label, but that’s not even the best part. All your designs are shared with the online game community, which can then be voted on in a tinder-like interface.

When you access it, you can swipe left or right just like you’re looking for a date in your local area. Only instead of voting on the attractiveness of local singles in your area, you’re voting on whether or not you like the weird designs of other weird bottles made by like-minded brewing enthusiasts.

You can experiment and fiddle with your designs, allowing you to make all kinds of crazy and strange bottle labels. The fact that other players will vote on your labels, ultimately deciding on whether or not you have any artistic ability at all, makes the whole process more exciting and engaging – what if people find it stupid? Or, heaven forbid, they actually like it?!

Besides the label design, Brew Town is a fairly simplistic game that blends idle gameplay with some small active element of flavor combination and design work.

The ascetic is pleasing, the UI fairly intuitive and overall experience enjoyable enough to be a casual game.

It’s the design element of the beer labels that makes Brew Town an especially significant game – it’s an artistic experiment with a lot of potential for fun, with some beers thrown in.
