Bravo fans will find disappointment in the iPad app

Bravo is home to some of the most entertaining reality shows in America. From “Top Chef” to “The Real Housewives,” the network has fans who would love to have an app that gives them the extras they desire to keep up with all the drama. Bravo Now (free) provides some of that extra content for viewers, but doesn’t offer enough to be a primary source.

The interface is laid out nicely, and areas are easily accessed. However, the app really only has three main functions. You can view short clips of shows, view full episodes, or chat about shows via Facebook and Twitter. There are several short clips of each show. However, I encountered two problems with this feature. First, you’re forced to watch a 30-second Target commercial before every single clip, which becomes incredibly annoying. Also, there seems to be a bug that brings up the wrong set of clips when you tap on the “Top Chef” button.

The Chat feature allows you to sign in with your Twitter and Facebook accounts to chat with other people while your favorite shows air live. You can sign up to receive notifications when another viewing party is starting. This is a nice feature, but you can do the same basic thing with any Twitter app.

The one thing that really has people angry is that you have to pay to watch full episodes of shows. The description in the App store says nothing about paying for full episodes. However, when you go to watch them in the app, it takes you to the App store to buy the episodes.

Besides those three main features, there’s not much else to sink your teeth into with this app. There’s no behind-the-scenes section, or any other parts that give the fans anything extra. As a result, Bravo Now really isn’t worth your time. You can get more info about your favorite shows from other sources.
