Bookworm is the most exciting trip to the library you will ever take. This unconventional word game has all the excitement of Tetris but demands the mental energy of a crossword.

Tap or drag your way across a large board of letters and try to spell the largest word you can.  Move over, up or down to rack up points and feed the bookworm.

Bookworm tests your vocabulary. Players get more points for longer and obscure words, leading to faster progress to the next level. Specialty blocks, bonus words and “fire” letters that threaten to burn down the library add spice to this app. This creates a colorful, cartoon-like game screen.

The game screen is dubbed the library, and as you spell words new letters and options stock the library’s shelves. In the books section of the library, every new word created is added to your collection.

Two modes are available in Bookworm.  “Classic” provides a slower pace for those looking to spot the big words while “Timed” offers a more frenetic experience as you try to beat the clock.

A nice feature: If a call comes in while you’re playing–or you need to send an email–Bookworm automatically saves your progress.

As much a puzzle as a word game, Bookworm offers entertainment for anyone willing to accept the challenge.
