Bills ~ On your table iPhone app lets you avoid late fees and missed payments

Paying your bills late can result in hefty overdue charges, increased interest rates and negative effects on your credit score, so it’s prudent to get that check in the mail on time. With theBills ~ On your table iPhone app ($1.99)  you can use your iPhone or iPod Touch to keep track of your monthly expenses and get push reminders of everything you owe. To use Bills ~ On your table, an account is required (a simple process that is performed in-app). I wish this was optional, but doing so allows users to create and view bills from any Internet browser as well, by visiting login.powerybase.com.

The best feature of Bills ~ On your table is its elegant design, which displays your outstanding payments in a user-friendly manner. However, despite its good looks, the iPhone app needs to update some key points in its functionality to be a true five-star iPhone app. Once a bill is created, the app limits its modifications. Most users will have the same bills due every month, but due dates are often in 28- or 30-day cycles, rather than due on a set date. Bills ~ On your table doesn’t allow for this, setting any repeating bills to be paid on the same date every month. Since this field can’t be edited, the only way to receive the correct reminders is to create an entirely new bill every month, which is counterintuitive to the iPhone app’s real purpose.

Bills can be sorted into categories, and 170 currencies are supported. You can schedule your push notifications to be received at an exact day and time before your bill is due, and in calendar view you can see how all your bills fall with just a glance. Through the stats panel, you can track how much you’re spending in each category by month, or even for the entire year, which can help you when setting a budget.

Despite its shortcomings, the potential for Bills ~ On your table to be an outstanding iPhone app is there, so I look forward to see what future updates bring.
