Bedometer iPhone app lets you measure your bedroom workout

The  iPhone app (99 cents) brings a whole new meaning to taking it to the mattresses, if you know what I mean. Similar to the step-counting pedometer, the Bedometer counts your movements in bed.

Basically, you select from either one player or multi-player, place the Bedometer iPhone app on your mattress and then this iPhone app counts calories burned between or on top of the sheets. Once you complete your mattress workout, simply tap the screen and the app gives you a total bump count, calories and time.

The iPhone app touts itself as the “ultimate bedroom athletics measuring tool.” This is quite a boastful statement considering athleticism is measured by a whole lot more than calories burned, unless they are referring to total minutes. I’ll let you all be the judge of that conundrum.

I have been known to count yoga in bed as my workout for the day, so I tried the Bedometer to see just how many calories I was burning. Not that yoga is a high intensity sport, but it is one I tend to do before slipping between the sheets. My yoga score barely registered on the iPhone app, so I tried again by jumping on the bed.

My score: 1 minute and 47 seconds, 79 count and 34 calories. The bedroom fitness iPhone app even let’s you share your score with your friends on Facebook, but I think I’ll keep this one to myself.

I would have paid 99 cents for this faux fitness iPhone app just for the cheeky marketing line “Get slim in your own sexy gym.”
