If you’re a driver and your town has meters or timed paid parking of any kind, Meter Maid 1.0 has the potential to save you hundreds of dollars in parking ticket fees.

Meter Maid’s slick interface allows users to set their meter in a matter of seconds by tapping the digital number display. Type in your time (remember this is hours and minutes, not minutes and seconds) and the 99-cent app registers your time on the integrated meter. You can refer back to the app to see how much time has counted down, or you can rely on push notification to tell you when to head back to your vehicle. For timers less than one hour, the app sends notification 10 minutes before expiration. From one to four hours, users get a 15-minute warning and for timers four to eight hours (the max), 20 minutes.

If you’re forgetful, you can also to drop a pin at your car’s location so you can easily find it again. My only real gripe about Meter Maid 1.0 is that there is no dedicated cancel or shut-off function for timers. Don’t be surprised when a push notification comes through hours later, especially if you’ve wrongly entered your time.
