Meet the Members: Jorge Sánchez (@jsugrumpy)

Jorge Sánchez (@jsugrumpy) is a new Appolicious member who has already jumped in to tell us the best apps for setting and tracking life goals. Based near Madrid, Spain, Jorge works for INDRA as a senior software engineer.

1. Tell us about yourself – where you live, your job, things you like to do.

I live near Madrid, Spain and work for INDRA, the most important IT company in the country, as a senior software engineer. I’m married and father of a precious baby girl. I have loved computers since I was a child, and now I’m hooked on the Internet.

2. Which iOS device or devices do you own?

I have an iPhone 3G. A friend of mine gave it to me after breaking the screen and switching to a 4G. I bought a screen replacement from eBay and repaired it myself. After years of using Windows Mobile smartphones and being far away from Apple, the new experience was fantastic.

3. Is there a particular category of apps that interests you the most?

Without a doubt, productivity apps, especially goal, habit, and to-do management apps.

4. What are your top 3-5 apps and why?

Springpad: Lets you capture everything and manage it on the desktop or on the go. It has a nice user interface and it’s free.

Daily Tracker: Keeps track of my habits and goals. I chose it because I couldn’t install others that I liked better but required iOS 4.

Reeder: Syncs with Google Reader, to fill those free times commuting or waiting in line.

5. What apps are popular among your colleagues and friends?

It looks like everybody is using WhatsApp Messenger, so I should give it a try.

6. Give an example of a time an app was truly useful to you.

I have the bad habit of biting my fingernails and I’m using Daily Tracker to try breaking it by keeping a log diary of good and bad days. I’m also trying to eat more fruit and vegetables and I’m also tracking that, among other things.

7. What other Appolicious member do you admire the most and why?

I’m rather new at Appolicious and don’t yet have any particular member I especially admire, but I’m impressed with the average number of apps the members have!

8. Anything else you’d like to share with the Appolicious audience?

I hope to contribute the most and discover great apps and friends. Hasta la vista!
