American Idol iPhone apps for Simon’s last stand

Despite the fact that the show has experienced its lowest ratings since its inception in 2002, American Idol still wins its weekly time slot most of the time. The show’s fans are still rather rabid, so we decided to take a look at the iPhone apps available for American Idol zealots. Some were well done and fun, others, well … to borrow a phrase from the judges, a little pitchy and not so good, dawg.

American Idol Game

IdolsNow (free) is like a “Where Are They Now?” for Idol contestants, where you can search for a favorite performer and see what they’ve been up to. It’s perfect for an Idolhead like me, and what I like about this app is that they even include their social networking accounts (if available), such as their accounts on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. The data seems to be kept up to date, so the news is fresh. It’s really a well-done app and better than most paid iPhone apps.
