The Super Bowl is over, leaving us plenty of time to focus on the current NBA basketball season.  As the NBA heads into the second half of the season, use your Android phone to ensure you don’t miss out on the excitement.

From live broadcasts to fantasy team management, there are a few Android apps to keep you in the game.

Official NBA

Bring the NBA experience to your Android phone with NBA League Pass.  The Android app is costly at $19.99, but it’s like having an NBA-specific premium channel on your mobile. View national and local games (live and replays), see scores and team and player stats. The Android app optimizes its video stream based on your Wi-Fi.

For a less costly option, try the NBA Game Time Android app.  At $5.99, you’re still shelling out the cash, but the official NBA Android app gives you mobile access to live radio broadcasts. For video, NBA television video recaps are available.

One of the highlights of the NBA All-Star game is the slam dunk competition. Get the 99-cent NBA.com All-Star Slam Dunk Android app to keep up with this fan favorite, providing live coverage and memorable highlights. The Android app comes from NBA Digital, and acts as a mobile companion to TNT’s television coverage of the competition.

News and Tracking Tools

Beyond the pricey broadcast apps, the NBA also has a slew of team-specific Android apps.  They cost about 99 cents apiece, but the apps provide team and player stats, game schedules, news and commentary to help you follow your favorite team.

For a free alternative to the NBA’a premium Android apps, Live Scores for the Android has expanded beyond football to include basketball and more. Get live stats and scores of the basketball games you’re following, with just the information you need.  Live Scores is also helpful for those with fantasy basketball teams.

While Yahoo! doesn’t have any official Android apps for fantasy sports, the 99 cent Fantasy Tracker can help you keep tabs on your digital roster.  See changes to your team’s stats in real time, manage your roster, and get play-by-play updates. Alerts can be set to appear on your Android notification bar, making sure you don’t miss a thing.

Getting yourself in the game

Sometimes you want to get in the game for yourself.  The 99-cent Mini Shot Basketball Android game for Android lets you shoot some hopes, anytime.  Slide your finger or thumb across the screen to throw the ball, and see how high of a score you can get with this mobile arcade game. There’s no accelerometer, but this Android game is still fun in its own right.

Keep up on your game strategies with the free Basketball Tactics Android app.  Animated diagrams dance across your phone’s screen, letting you envision how a particular play will turn out. Create your own plays to see how they will work in the real game, or recreate some plays you saw in last night’s game.

Sometimes all you need is Twitter to keep up with basketball games.  Use Twidroid to follow your favorite basketball news sources and reporters, and partake in all the basketball talk you want with other fans. As plenty of players like Shaq are known to tweet regularly, the free Twidroid Android app can get you that much closer to the game.
