Airport Maps

Dec 4, 2010

Having a map of the airport on your phone may seem stupid. That is until you’re looking for food and have exactly 15 minutes until your flight boards. That’s when it seems genius. Is there a coffee shop nearby or should I just stop at this bagel place and get drip coffee here? Is there something down the hall that’s better? Where is the stinking food in this airport? All of these are questions that require app help when you’re a frequent traveler in need of a meal and in a hurry. These are some of the apps to help with that.

Point Inside Maps for Airports & Malls

The best app I’ve found thus far when it comes to airport maps.

Basically this app will show you around airports and malls. Might seem silly but for those of us that don’t live at either having a guide without having to find one is very nice. Do you park in obscure places at the mall, enter through a side door and then wonder where that one store you’re going to is located? Do you spend time looking for a directory just so you can find the place you’re looking for? No more. This app tells you what is where and when it comes to airports and malls this is extremely useful, especially if it’s a place you’re not familiar with.

The interface of this app is very obvious allowing you to use it without having to read directions (the way every app should be). You can also send in feedback just in case something isn’t obvious or isn’t working. Thus far the app seems rock solid and very useful.

sort of like point inside but a bit less professional. What I mean by that is that I trust it quite a bit less. Like all apps from this developer it seems to be missing a lot… but that said, it’s a start if you don’t like the slightly less visually appealing point inside.

GateGuru, Airport Info & Flight Status

Same idea as the others but with a bit more information about each restaurant or shop. It even includes ratings of each place available.
