Super Stretch Yoga iPhone app can get kids involved in a relaxing hobby

There’s nothing about yoga that makes it especially “for adults,” other than maybe complicated Sanskrit names and some stretches that most kids would need a measure of concentrate to execute. But if you simplify all of that, kids are just as likely to have a blast practicing their frog poses as any adult.

That’s the idea behind Super Stretch Yoga, a how-to yoga app that combines a series of instructional videos with colorful cartoons in order to teach kids the proper technique on some basic yoga poses.

To be fair, anyone who thinks themselves a beginner at yoga would find value in how the app’s 12 poses are taught. From the tree pose to the downward facing dog, the instruction given is accurate and easy to understand.

The app even goes beyond poses with a short section that turns the Sanskrit phrase “Namaste” into an acronym for goals to living a happy, healthy life.

If there’s any fault to Super Stretch Yoga it’s that adults might bristle at the cutesy nature of the cartoon introductions of each pose. Plus, watching little kids demonstrate yoga poses can seem a little weird. But if you’re trying to teach a younger family member the basics of yoga, Super Stretch Yoga is a good place to start. It keeps things simple, light and easy to understand. And besides, it’s an excellent way to burn off some energy during those cold winter days when going outdoors is not an option.
