ShopAtHome.com, the popular shopping portal where you can find coupons for online stores and even earn cash-back credits, has landed in the App Store under the name Coupon Codes Plus. Now iPad users can get access to the same deals no matter where they are, and some of those deals look tasty.
Once you launch the app, a simple search bar lies at the top, while a visual menu for store coupons, daily deals and top categories appear mid-screen. Below that is a small black navigation menu that includes the links above along with one for getting help. You do need to be a member to participate in the program, but there is no fee involved.
The app is super simple to use. You can browse by favorite store and find whatever coupon codes or special promotions they happen to be offering at the moment. Most of these deals can also be found by Googling, but it’s convenient to have them all in once place.
The big draw comes from the cash back deal. Various offers indicate a small percentage – ranging generally from 3 to 10 percent – to be applied to your ultimate rebate.
The categories are pretty vast featuring stores as diverse as Lowe’s to Crocs, Dell Computer to 1000 Bulbs, and serious shopaholics can even earn cash back and find deals on HSN. The only feature I would like to see is a wish-list or shopping list to refer back to. User comments on the validity of the codes would be welcome, too.
To redeem the deals you need to use the app (or the website) as a shopping portal to the online stores. The alpha-numeric coupon codes may work if you navigate directly to the site, but in order for ShopAtHome.com to profit from this arrangements, and for you to earn any cash back, items have to be purchased through their affiliate programs.
And that takes me to my one concern. While there are some great and highly reputable stores in the catalog, ShopAtHome.com seems also to house a lot of iffy sites like instant payday loans and MLM schemes. It’s not so much a problem as a warning. This app and its website offer very useful service, but keep the motto caveat emptor in mind while you browse. If something sounds too good to be true, odds are it is.
