War of Words 2 update (Free)

What’s it about? War of Words 2 is a crossword game in which players take turns placing words on a board, but which includes a number of other tiles that affect the way the game is played.

What’s cool? If you’ve played games like Scrabble, then you already know the basic gist of how War of Words 2 works. Players take turns placing letter tiles on a game board, with each letter coming with a point total that goes toward the player’s score. The idea is to strategically place your tiles on multipliers to increase your score, but you also have to build off existing words on each turn. War of Words mixes up the formula a bit by adding other tiles to the board, which have effects like “poisoning” players to cost them points, blowing up your opponents’ words, and more. The latest update to War of Words 2 adds the ability to play twice as many active games against opponents online, and cuts one of the game’s expansion packs to half price.

Who’s it for? If you like challenging other players to word games, you’ll want to check out War of Words 2.

What’s it like? Don’t forget to play the well-loved entries into the genre, like Scrabble and Words With Friends.

League Runners (Free)

What’s it about? Face off in multiplayer, side-scrolling races and punish your opponents with various items in League Runners.

What’s cool? Another multiplayer title, League Runners challenges players to take on one another in live races over an Internet connection. League Runners is a side-scroller, so you’ll run races against three opponents, and your goal is to avoid obstacles and use items to slow down your enemies. You’ll collect objects like magnets to drag back anyone who gets in front of you, banana peels to trip up those behind you, laser beams and more. There are plenty of other things that’ll get in your way, like crates and sticky tar fields that you’ll need to avoid. League Runners includes global leaderboards to let you see how you stack up against other players, and tons of unlockable outfits to let you customize your runners.

Who’s it for? Fans of console titles such as Super Mario Kart will get a kick out of the races to be found in League Runners.
