Movie junkies might like AFI iPhone app

There is the casual movie fan who enjoys catching a flick on the big screen every now and again. Then there are the hardcore fans who can name every Oscar winner ever, and who crave knowing everything about the filming and production of their favorite movies.

The American Film Institute iPhone app (free) is for the latter category of fan.

Included in the app are multiple video clips of interviews with some of Hollywood’s biggest names. For example, there are interviews with Jack Lemmon, who was featured in Some Like It Hot, The Apartment and Grumpy Old Men, and Harrison Ford of Blade Runner, Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The app also allows users to connect with AFI’s Twitter feed and its Facebook page. And, if you’re so inclined, you can become an AFI member via the app.

One of the coolest features on the app is AFI’s list of the 100 best films ever made. Scrolling through it is like scrolling through the history of Hollywood. Citizen KaneThe Godfather and Casablanca top the list, in case you were curious. And Yankee Doodle Dandy, Toy Story and Ben Hur round out the list at 98, 99 and 100 respectively.
