appoLearning debuts Community Picks in major app and website update

Teachers who are constantly asked about their favorite educational apps now have a new way to share their recommendations! And it is a lot easier than traditional methods of firing off emails or tapping into a clunky Wiki or internal network.

appoLearning today debuts Community Picks, a major update to the free, five star appoLearning iPad app. Community Picks can also be found at appoLearning.com. The new feature allows anyone to create, contextualize and share one or multiple lists of educational apps that are used for learning in the classroom, at home or on the go. Further, users can create lists of educational apps specifically for iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and Android handheld devices.

Separate from the approximately 175 categories of educational apps that are professionally curated by appoLearning Experts and include comprehensive reviews and rankings based on Report Card evaluations, user-generated lists can be quickly created, published and shared with the appoLearning community. Lists can focus on such varied topics as great free apps, comic book creation tools, and the best apps for math teachers to align their lessons to Common Core Standards.

The process for creating a list of educational apps at appoLearning is very simple and can be completed in a couple of minutes. Users just need to sign up by providing a Name, Email Address, and Password. Thereafter, they can create a New App List. At that point, they provide a title and indicate the device (iPad, iPhone, Android Tablet, Android Handheld) that supports the app recommendations.

After providing a short introduction to an app list, users can search for apps by name (for both iOS and Android platforms). There is no limit to the number of apps that can be included in an app list, and users also have the option to write a short description of their app selections.

Noteworthy lists will be featured by appoLearning editors, and users can also tag their app lists so they appear alongside relevant appoLearning categories. Soon, there will be separate, professionally curated sections of for the iPhone, Android Tablets and Android Handheld devices.

New lists will be regularly featured in the Community Picks, and all lists can be easily shared via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+.
